Current Modalities

 

  • Swedish Massage - A massage technique that includes effleurage, pétrissage, friction, vibration, and tapotement. Swedish massage is intended to improve circulation and tissue elasticity while reducing muscle tone and creating a parasympathetic response.

  • Deep Tissue Massage - Massage which reaches structures far beneath the superficial fascia to attempt to relieve chronic muscle problems or injuries.

  • Sports Massage - Massage geared toward participants in athletics. It is used to help prevent injuries, to prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition, and to help athletes recover from workouts and injuries.
     

Continuing Education Goals

  • Pregnancy Massage - a collection of traditional techniques used to reduce pregnancy discomfort, facilitate labor and help with anxiety and stress during
    pregnancy. The massage therapist receives advanced education in the anatomy, physiology and complications related to pregnancy.

  • Oncology Massage - a collection of techniques tailored to the needs of persons living with cancer. The massage therapist needs special training in all stages of the disease as well as the various precautions including those for radiation, chemotherapy and surgery.

  • Geriatric Massage - uses a variety of techniques appropriate for the aging body. Modifications of traditional massage allow for accommodating medical ailments, dementia, physical frailty and other possible limitations.
